OVERVIEW & CHALLENGE
A global manufacturer of high-performance materials was experiencing long lead times, supply inconsistencies, and packaging performance issues across thermoformed trays, stretch film, and corrugated. SupplyOne developed a more reliable packaging program focused on domestic sourcing, inventory support, material optimization, and improved performance within the customer’s production environment.
THE SOLUTION
SupplyOne developed a multi-category packaging strategy to improve supply reliability, reduce material usage, and support continuous production.
- Domestic Sourcing & Inventory Management: SupplyOne established a stocking agreement and transitioned key materials from an international supplier to a reliable domestic source, improving availability and supply continuity while reducing lead times from approximately 6 weeks to 2 weeks.
- Engineered Tray & Automation Improvements: SupplyOne developed a thermoformed tray with de-nesting features to improve performance in the customer’s robotic automation system, reducing downtime.
- Material & Packaging Optimization: SupplyOne downgauged stretch film from 100 to 63 gauge following load-containment testing, reducing material usage while maintaining performance. Corrugated designs
were also improved for the customer’s automated case-handling environment.
THE RESULT
SupplyOne improved supply reliability, shortened lead times, and reduced materials usage through domestic sourcing and packaging optimization.
